Safari Overview
This 3-day chimpanzee tracking safari takes you to Kibale Forest National Park, the primate capital of the world. The park is famous for its high concentration of primates, with over 13 different species including chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and the rare L’Hoest’s monkeys. The highlight of this tour is chimpanzee tracking, where you will encounter these intelligent primates in their natural habitat. The tour also includes a Bigodi Swamp community walk, where you will discover birdlife, butterflies, and cultural experiences.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala/Entebbe to Kibale National Park
Your safari begins with a pick-up from your hotel or Entebbe International Airport. You will embark on a scenic drive through Uganda’s countryside, passing tea plantations, rolling hills, and lively local towns. Lunch will be served en route. Upon arrival at Kibale Forest, you will check into your lodge, relax, and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the park. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Community Walk
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before embarking on your chimpanzee tracking adventure. With the help of experienced rangers, you will walk through the dense tropical forest, listening for calls and movements of chimpanzees. Once found, you will spend an hour observing them as they play, groom, and interact. This close encounter is a truly unforgettable experience.
In the afternoon, visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community project known for its rich biodiversity. Expect to see colorful birds such as the great blue turaco, as well as monkeys, butterflies, and medicinal plants. Later, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Return to Kampala/Entebbe
After breakfast, you may opt for a short nature walk or simply relax at your lodge before starting your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. Lunch will be provided en route. Your guide will drop you at your hotel or airport, marking the end of your 3-day chimpanzee tracking safari.
