Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala/Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your journey begins with a professional safari guide picking you up from your hotel or Entebbe International Airport. This 3-day gorilla trek starts with a drive southwards, crossing the Equator where you can stop for photographs and a brief demonstration. The journey to Bwindi takes you through the beautiful countryside, dotted with tea plantations, banana groves, and lively roadside markets.

A delicious lunch will be served en route in Mbarara, the “land of milk,” before continuing to the Kigezi Highlands, often called the “Switzerland of Africa.” Arriving in the late afternoon at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will check into your safari lodge. Relax and enjoy the breathtaking views of the impenetrable forest. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience & Community Visit

After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for a vital briefing on gorilla trekking rules and safety. With the guidance of trained rangers and trackers, you will begin your trekking gorilla Uganda adventure through the dense undergrowth in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ movement within their natural habitat.

Once found, you will spend one unforgettable hour in their presence. Watching a silverback protect his family or seeing juveniles play is a true wildlife encounter that stays with you forever. In the afternoon, you may opt for a community walk to visit the Batwa pygmies. This cultural experience offers insights into their ancient way of life through music, dance, and storytelling. For more preparation tips, see our complete guide to gorilla trekking in Uganda. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Return to Kampala/Entebbe

After breakfast, begin your scenic journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. We will make a stop at the Igongo Cultural Centre or Mbarara for lunch. This return leg offers a final chance to appreciate the terraced hills of southwestern Uganda. Depending on your flight schedule, your guide will drop you at your hotel or at Entebbe International Airport, marking the end of your 3-day Bwindi gorilla trekking experience with PawMac Safaris.
